Thailand has strengthened its efforts to combat online financial crime by introducing laws aimed at deterring and preventing unregulated foreign crypto services from operating within its borders. The new legal amendments, approved by the cabinet, are backed by the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC announced updates to key emergency decrees, including the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses B.E. 2561 (2018) and the Emergency Decree on Measures for the Prevention and Suppression of Cybercrime B.E. 2566 (2023), which introduce new measures to regulate digital asset businesses and combat cybercrime.
